The new boys Sintet United who are playing the third Division for the first time on Friday the 25th February played a barren goalless draw against Soccer Boys at the St Peters football field in Lamin, performing with pure confidence and hunger to wrap up the first round in style.
It was an enthralling contest with end-to-end football from both sides, with Mustapha Nyassi the right full back of Sintet being the game decorator, with his marauding runs and teasing crosses which were a nightmare to the defenders of soccer boys.
With talents all over the pitch it wasn’t long for the fans to know what to expect in the contest, in the 5th minute Mustapha Nyassy’s surging run and sublime cross was perfectly met by Sinte’s Sarjo Badjie, whose powerful half volley was beautifully parried out for a corner by the Superb goalkeeper of Soccer Boys who had a very busy and long afternoon, as he had to be on his toes all evening to protect his goal mouth.
Soccer Boys were at some point threatening going forward with creating some half chances, but every Soccer Boys positive was punctured by Sintet panache. with the game goalless the fans favorite was Mutapha Nyassy with every of his runs and crosses receiving roars from the fans, it was a performance of top and tease from the youngster, who speaking to me after the game said he idolizes The Gambian born Alexander Bah who currently plays in Denmark. Mustapha’s dream team is Manchester City.
With the game finishing goalless one could say, the off filed scene were in the end more interesting than the on field actions, with the coach of soccer boys doing actions leading to wild laughter all around the field, he] Colley, coach Soccer Boys] speaking after the game however said, this is not how he is off football, he added that he was carried by the game and struggled to control his emotion.
The assistant coach of Sintet United promised their supporters of a strong second round and “hopefully gained promotion to the second division”. After six games Sintet United are currently on 7 points while Soccer Boys on 5 points. We are set for an enthralling second round.
Will it go down to the wire? Well let’s wait and see.
