At least 700 people have been reportedly displaced by the Monday gun battle between Senegalese forces and MFDC. The disaster management agency and Red Cross have been assessing the situation.
Credible sources also said five lives have been lost on each side of the battleline. Sources have also been speaking of uneasy calm in the area around the frontline. “Gambian soldiers are currently stationed in the border area and were restricting movement,” a Kampant resident told this reporter.
According to unconfirmed reports, MFDC was amassing at the Casamance- Gambia border. Meanwhile, President Adama Barrow has instructed an investigation into the variables that led to the lethal gun fight.
