Editorial: Adieu Pa Modou and Musa

January 19, 2022

The Gambian media fraternity is still struggling to digest the devastating news of the untimely demise of two of their former comrades. The news of the deaths of Pa Modou Faal and Musa Ndow in a car crash Monday night struck like a thunderbolt, coming at a time when no-one was prepared for it.

Pa Modou fondly referred to as “Koto” and Musa Ndow will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by their heart-broken comrades in the media. The cruel hand of death has indeed snatched strong and promising journalists.

Whilst Musa Ndow distinguished himself as a journalist at the then Daily Observer, Koto made significant journalism contributions with his stints at The Daily Observer, The Point, Sud FM among other outlets.

Whilst Ndow used the latter days of his life to support in the sinking of boreholes in poor, rural Gambian communities, Koto has dedicated his entire life to service to humanity.

Either as a school prefect or journalist, Koto has led a fulfilling life because his passion was to serve. Their deaths provided that rare moment when Gambian journalists have become more united in grief.
