Captain Pa Modou Jagne retires after 17 years of selfless service

Scorpions long time captain who represented the country on numerous occasions has resigned from National football. He announced hisresignation on Monday 7, February at the football house in Old Yundum.

The Gambia Football Federation organized a cocktail party for the outgoing captain who has 39 caps to his name. Minister of Youth and sports Bakary Y. Badjie described Pa Modou as a true leader known for his consistency, honesty and patriotism while assuring him of the Ministry’s support in his future endeavors.

Visibly emotional, the captain announced his retirement from national duties, as he dedicated the moment to his late grandmother and uncle. Jagne thanked the football federation, his friends, fans and the media for the support throughout his journey. ‘’ I am now retiring from National Team duties as your captain and handing over the responsibilities to Omar Colley who has proven beyond reasonable doubt to lead the team forward’’.

Nda assured Gambians and the footballers for his full support in any way possible. Delivering his statement Bakary Jammeh the GFF’S first vice president highlighted Jagne’s immense contributions and commitment to the national team describing his work as ‘’17 years of selfless service’’.

During the ceremony videos of Nda’s family talking about the man’s career life were featured, plus designs of Pa’s photos in a scorpion jersey.
