Three arrested for ‘attempting’ to smuggle drugs into Mile Il

Three young Gambians, who reportedly dared to smuggle illicit drugs into the country’s main prison, have been arrested.


The anti-narcotics agency said on Thursday that the trio was arrested on Wednesday as they ‘attempted’ to smuggle prohibited and controlled drugs into central prison.


Modou Lamin Touray,22, Muhammed Jallow,19, and Oumie Camara,20, were placed in custody as investigations into some quantities of Cannabis and Clonazepam allegedly concealed in different bottles of body lotion was being launched.


The drugs were reportedly discovered during a routine prison check. The trio was reportedly at the prison to visit their associates when 16 tablets of Clonazepam and some quantities of Cannabis were found with them. The drugs were said to be wrapped in nylon bags and hidden in three different bottles.
